Microgreens are the seedlings of vegetables and herbs. Once the seed of a herb or vegetable begins to germinate, it is considered a sprout. Once the sprout begins to grow into the cotyledon stage. It is considered a microgreen just before or just as the true leaf appears. The next stage is true leaf, next growth stage is the baby leaf green.

Sprouts and microgreens are not one and the same. Sprouts are usually grown by water and harvested within 2-3 days. Microgreens are grown in soil or some form of a grow medium, require sunlight, and are harvested after 1-3 weeks of growing time, when they are about 2-3 inches tall. Baby greens are grown for longer periods and are usually around 3-4 inches tall when they are harvested.

The flavor of microgreens depends on the plant they comes from. It can range from mild to tangy, sweet, spicy, or peppery.

Microgreens can be grown from any herb or vegetable with some exceptions. 

Our Farm

We are a family run and owned vertical farm In Dracut, Massachusetts. We specialize in growing microgreens, wheatgrass, baby leaf produce, lettuce mixes and herbs. Our grow system allows us to maximize our grow space, even in the grip of winter. We use recycled and state of the art equipment to grow in a controlled environment. Our water is carbon filtered removing fluorides and chlorinates. We use our own crafted organic soil mix, only Non-GMO seeds, and organic seeds (When Available).
